The Chattanooga Convention Center continues to serve the convention industry with superior service and amenities. The expanded Chattanooga Convention Center represents nothing short of a revolution in exhibition space design. Unlike traditional meeting space (with dark ceilings that beg to be ignored), the Convention Center's sophisticated lighting technology allows natural sunlight directly into the spacious exhibition area. The result: bright, evenly distributed lighting that's not only more visually pleasing, but also brings with it all of the psychological benefits of working in pure, natural sunlight.
First-time visitors will find unique-but-practical design features at almost every turn. A state-of-the-art fresh air ventilation system allows temperatures to be controlled with near-pinpoint accuracy throughout the Center. This system can completely "flush out" the buildings air and replace it with a fresh supply automatically or on demand. Even parking and loading areas have been improved, with a total of 3,500 nearby parking spaces and 14 new loading docks.
The theme for Chattanooga Convention Centers expansion project is "a living machine" -- one where the Convention Center contributes to the greening of Chattanooga, incorporates renewable resources and serves as an educational tool by demonstrating solutions to environmental problems associated with construction.
The exterior of the building is enhanced and softened by the planting of trees along Carter and 13th Streets, while other possibilities, such as bringing the paving from the prefunction area out to the street, are being explored to give the street a more pedestrian feel.
