Gold Coast Tourism

Gold Coast Tourism Gold Coast Tourism Corporation Ltd (primarily trading as Gold Coast Tourism) is the Regional Tourist Authority for the Gold Coast region. The area of marketing responsibility stretches from Beenleigh in the north through to Cabarita Beach in the south and west to Boonah Shire. The organisation is a member based, Non-Profit Organisation with limited liability. Gold Coast Tourism exists to promote and market the Gold Coast Region as the premier tourist destination for domestic and international tourists. Implicit in this process is the need to build high yield, sustainable business for the region and our members, and to represent the organisation and the destination in a professional manner at all times.

Gold Coast Tourism was established 31 years ago by a small group of entrepreneurs who had invested in the hospitality and tourism industries in Surfers Paradise, Southport and Main Beach. Until 1987, all promotional efforts were concentrated in the domestic market. The first foray into international marketing targeted the convention/ incentives industry. By 1993, the organisation was representative of 1,200 local businesses and 45,000 people employed in hospitality and tourism. At this time, national and international marketing activities were extensive. In 1994 the organisation established a dedicated convention and incentive travel department, which has been instrumental in a dramatic growth in meetings and incentive business for the Gold Coast.

The organisation is the official tourism marketing authority for Australia's largest leisure holiday destination. The organisation has a staff of around 36 to carry out marketing initiatives in national, international and conventions and incentive markets and currently operates two Visitor Information Centres within the region. Currently a network of seven centres is being established in order to better service the needs of visitors and to maximise visitor spend in the Gold Coast.
