Opened May 1, 2005, the Hampton Roads Convention Center features 344,000 square feet of convention and exhibit space. The center has 35 meeting rooms with capacity for up to 14,000 delegates including a spacious 108,000-square-foot exhibit hall with oversized freight-loading doors and a grand ballroom with banquet seating for more than 2,000. Convention delegates can plug in at the center's Cyber Café and Business Center or decompress on an outdoor terrace overlooking the convention center campus.
For additional meeting space, the Hampton Coliseum is just steps from the convention center. With 84,000 total square feet, the Coliseum - a landmark for those traveling along Interstate 64 - can accommodate 11,000 people.
Connected to The Hampton Roads Convention Center by covered walkway and a stroll’s distance to the Hampton Coliseum, a new 295-suite John Q. Hammons Embassy Suites Hotel opens summer 2005. The property pampers delegates with Botanica Day Spa and offers such conveniences as a full service restaurant, lobby lounge, Caffeina’s coffee creations and traditional Embassy Suites amenities, such as cooked to order breakfast and nightly manager’s reception.
Distinguished by a team of experienced meeting professionals, the Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau delivers customized services to ensure that each convention experience is unforgettable. "There is no cookie-cutter approach to services in Hampton," says director Sallie Grant-DiVenuti. "We look at each convention's needs from beginning to end and determine the best way to enhance their meeting and stay in our city."
