Meeting in Puerto Rico will never be the same. The Puerto Rico Convention Center is the largest in the Caribbean and the most technologically advanced throughout both the Caribbean and Latin America. Boasting 580,000 square feet of total space, the Center can accommodate groups of up to 10,000, in an ideal setting at the gateway to all the Island has to offer. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, under its Sheraton flag, has been selected to operate the $200 million facility. The construction already started, with projected opening for late 2009. Conceived as an "urban resort," the property will have on the first floor, the contemporary design calls for a large, open lobby, casino, and entertainment complex with music hall for live performances. Also included in the plan are two ballrooms, banquet and meeting rooms, spa, restaurants, shops and parking space. On the fourth floor, the design features a rooftop pool with cabanas, tropical gardens and views of Old San Juan and the harbor.
