Carson City is the capital of Nevada. It is a small city with a population of slightly over 55,000 people. Carson City is located in west central Nevada, not far from Lake Tahoe, and forty minutes south of Reno, Nevada. Carson City was founded in the boom days of silver mining during the 1860's. It is named after the explorer Kit Carson.
